Poems – Tribute Sardar Mahna Singh Nagi Ji

My Grandpa ~ My Role Model

(1864 – 1948)

He could’ve become a beggar or joined an orphanage
Instead he befit a trainee at a tender age
He joined British army during the Afghan war
There he learnt wood craft and much more

When the war ended, he left army as a craftsman
By now he was grown up and stood as a man
His aim was to soar to the highest altitude
His fate was sparkled by his positive attitude

He built maharaja’s palaces and won many contracts
His competency and loyalty made an impact
He became one of the richest persons around
He always helped poor, for that he became renowned

He owned rows of houses on a road after his name
Theatre and other assets earned him much fame
He was kind and honest with a heart of gold
Tales of charity, much to write, they are in many folds

Grandpa, I want to follow your footsteps, bless me from above
You’re my role model, for that I’m extremely proud of.

Tribute To My Grandpa

My Grandpa was great
he was born to shine with blessed fate
he made millions from carving wood
earned respect wherever he stood
owned rows of houses, road after his name
theatre and other assets earned him much fame
he was kind and honest with heart of gold
tales of charity hard to write in many folds
his house burnt down in to flames
gold and silver melted in to drains
he thanked God that no one was burnt
he said, “money is materialistic can be earned”

he heavenly abode penniless
likewise he came
Grandpa, we’re proud of you
always ‘ll narrate your fame.
